To the "I didn't get my perfect conservative so I'm not voting for McCain" conservatives, my plea to you is to reconsider immediately. Remember what is at stake. For 8 years our military and preparedness suffered resulting in 9/11. If Clinton or Obama is elected we will slide back down that path. Is this really what you want? Who do you want nominating 2-3 judges for the Supreme Court? If you continue down the path of dragging down McCain then YOU will have some blame. Get over it! If Romney or even Huckabee wins then I will be happy to support them.
To John McCain, my plea to you is to pick a conservative vice-president who will be someone the Bible belt conservatives can get behind. Obviously this pick needs to be a social conservative but also needs to be a true conservative. Fred Thompson comes to mind. This would be the first way to begin mending fences.
To Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee, my plea to you is to back off. It's time to unite. Continue having debates but use it as a time to attack the true opponents, Clinton and Obama.
To Romney supporters, my plea to you is to realize that this was not Mitt's time to win. Go ahead and lick your wounds but no need to tear down McCain any further.
To Huckabee supporters, my plea to you is to realize that your candidate, although he had a decent showing, is still in third place and will not win. I also pray you weren't supporting Huckabee just because he is a Christian. I also pray your lack of support for Romney has nothing to do with his faith. I do have a feeling though that many Evangelicals rejected Romney because of his faith.
To the "hold your nose and vote for McCain", my plea to you is to back away from presidential politics for about a month. There has been a lot of poison in the air about McCain. Think about 4 to 8 years of Hillary Clinton. The cackle, the shrillness, the nanny state, Bill Clinton back in the White House, the disregard for the military. Focus on the Global War on Terror, winning in Iraq, making the Bush tax cuts permanent, cutting spending and the Supreme Court.
To the hardcore McCain supporters, my plea to you is to reach out to the rest of the party and begin unifying. Don't wait for the losing sides to come to you.
