RealClearPolitics - Articles - A Hard Loss for Romney
It's one thing to lose as you are. What you lose is an election, but there's always another election and in the case of presidential primary politics, a new electorate that awaits you in the next state. It's another thing to lose as you aren't. Mitt Romney was never the 700 Club right-winger his campaign managers conceived. He was and is a man of business and a very capable one at that.
This seems spot on. I really hadn't figured out why I hadn't gone for Romney but this about nails it. How can I be passionate about a candidate when he doesn't seem to be passionate about anything I really care about. I'm still trying to figure out what Romney's message really is. Thompson has the same problem. Both Giuliani and McCain are both pushing their stands on national security and that's what I care about the most, along with their ability to win.
If I were voting right now I pull the lever for McCain. Fortunately, I've got until February 5 to make my choice.
