It's very strange to be talking to your best friend as he gets ready to head off to Iraq withing the next 14 hours. Fortunately, he's pretty excited to be serving his country. He will also, hopefully, be using this blog to record his thoughts of his 4 month tour. His handle is "Duke" and I ask for prayers for him but also his wife and son.
His departing thoughts are best summed up by the US Armed Forces Code of Conduct, specifically Article 6, which states:
I will never forget that I am an American, fighting for freedom, responsible for my actions and dedicated to the principles that made my country free. I will trust in my God and in the United States of America.
Posted by Tim at April 28, 2005 08:29 PMJust found this site, and my hat is off to you for bringing Duke's great, great messages to us, and as far as my feelings for Duke... God save you, my brother.

Posted by: R J Del Vecchio at June 30, 2005 08:54 AMGod Bless You!! This is awesome what you have done and hopefully it will travel this world like you would not believe. People of this country should hear what you have to say and what this war is truely doing...what you all are truely doing and going through. I am a former Woman Marine of 3rd MAW, El Toro/Tustin California 1994 and I sympathize with what your going through and having to endure. Keep up the good work and come home safe. I'll be praying for all of ya'll over there and here. All those who serve to protect safety so that we can sleep at night. Thank you!!
Posted by: Ms. Michelle at July 14, 2005 11:00 AMi dont mean to be rude but youve talked to people youve comei nto contact with in iraq and your staunch support for your president who LIED to get where he is, LIED to start a war, in spite of the fact hta you are a christian is strange to me. im gald you got home safe - but im a christian living in the middle east and to me the deaths caused to the iraqi ppl by George W Bush and Saddam Hussein are one and the same. both are tyrants but only ONE killed int he name of his religion - MY 'religion'. I love the american soldiers but i disagree completely with you - i support all the anti war supporters - more ppl have been killed by you americans than our own and though it is a difficult mentality to understand since you are form the WEST - we over here would rather be killed by our own than foreigners in the name of Christ.
THe war is anti God and Bush is anti God. GOd does not support liars - there are only weapons of mass distraction where your basic level english trained president is concerned. God bless
