CRONKITE: What we just heard. So now the question is basically right now, how will this affect the election? And I have a feeling that it could tilt the election a bit. In fact, I'm a little inclined to think that Karl Rove, the political manager at the White House, who is a very clever man, he probably set up bin Laden to this thing. The advantage to the Republican side is to get rid of, as a principal subject of the campaigns right now, get rid of the whole problem of the al Qaqaa explosive dump. Right now, that, the last couple of days, has, I think, upset the Republican campaign.
This liberal hack had such influence on this country for years. Very sad that this is the type of journalist that is respected. This blog has ZERO respect for Cronkite when he starts throwing out these types of theories. Welcome to the world of Michael Moore.

I didn't see the video, but just a quick glance through the transcript makes it appear he's not well. He's 88? Is that what is in the transcript? He doesn't seem to be aware of Kerry's name (he calls him "the new guy") and Larry King has to ask him some of the questions a couple times because he doesn't appear to be able to hear or understand. Would this be like asking Reagan on an interview program in the 90's? I'm not sure. You're right....definitely the part about Rove and Bin Ladin is bizarre to say the least.
