My friend Jon from the excellent San Diego band Roosevelt brought me to the show last night to help out with moving equipment on and off stage. This was a great opportunity and they even let me bring my oldest son (little does he know how cool this is). There wasn't a lot of real work to do but I got to observe and meet various members of all the bands (Roosevelt, This Holiday Life, Something Like Silas, Parker Theory and Reeve Oliver.
One thing all these bands have in common as they are a bunch of really nice people. (Roosevelt was first and they sounded great. They are getting very comfortable as a band and it shows in their music. This Holiday Life sounded great and did a very gutsy cover of "Sunday, Bloody Sunday" by U2. Great job! I missed most of Something Like Silas and Parker Theory (my son was tiring) but they will be watched by this blog. I hope to see them again. Reeve Oliver was terribly impressive. I think this band will be breaking through soon. Their new album is fantastic.
Thanks again, Jon for the great opportunity.
UPDATE: Another thank you to Jon for the shout out during the concert before they played "Slow Down".
UPDATE 2: Many thanks to the young lady at the Reeve Oliver merch table for getting autographs for my son. She went way above and beyond the call of duty.
