Tip to Drudge.
Yep, this will clear everything up. I guess the strategy is to use friendly media to ignore the charges against him. The Daily Show just doesn't seem to be the right place to be. If he wants to bury the issue then he needs to be a bit more serious. My guess is a softball Leslie Stahl interview on 60 Minutes.
Posted by Tim at August 24, 2004 08:36 PMHey, I have a great idea. Why don't you Republicans start early this time and get together and question all the Democrat soldiers coming out of Iraq with medals, too? Especially check whether there was enough blood spilled to get those Purple Hearts. Bronze star---Shmonze Star....Don't wait 35 years this time! I mean, you guys seem so concerned about right and wrong and morality and crap like that.
Wait, wait!! Make it even more fun: Maybe you could fund a Republican Iraqi war veterans group to check out their fellow Iraqi vets (Dems only!!). That way---LOL---your Bushie hands are clean! You know, maybe inflame one vet group by telling them there are other vets that might be cheating. Just to get their blood boiling. And I know it's not quite compassionate conservatism, but it'll be fun to pit them against each other! Can you say "LOL"? Hello!! Did you hear me? Start Early!!!
One hint I might suggest is that you quiz each of these vets (but potential Liberal cheaters) on what Iraqi town they were in on key dates, maybe say, Christmas, ummm...Groundhog's Day,....maybe Halloween.... (Don't let them use any notes, you whacky bunch of right-wingers!!!)
And here's the best part. Even if you find they spilled enough blood to win a medal, call them a liar if they don't get their locations perfectly correct. (Here's part of the Republican fun: YOU get to set the standard!!! Move that goalpost if you don't like the answer!!! If they say something like "somewhere near the Kurdish border..." BUZZZZ!!! That doesn't count and call them a liar!)
Remember. You're standing up for truth and justice and stuff like that. They're merely vets that took a bullet. And Kerry? What a doofus! He volunteered to die for your Constitutional rights. Can you say "stupid" and DESERVING of this treatment?!?!
Hey Bushies, I meant to tell you...I'm still chuckling over the way you smeared John McCain in 2000. The old Karl Rove tricks are the best tricks, huh? LOL!!! Hello?!!!! Whatever it takes to win! LOL!!!

Unlike Bush 41 and Dole, they didn't come back and accuse their comrades of war crimes nor did they brag about their service.
You forgot one thing, let's make sure that the candidate comes back to the states and, while the Iraq war is going on, accuses them all of major war crimes. Kerry and the Dems can't have it both ways.
