My Way News - Clinton Adviser Probed in Terror Memos
I'm going to believe Sandy Berger, unless proven otherwise. People make mistakes and it doesn't seem intentional unlike this:
Former CIA Director John Deutch was pardoned by Clinton just hours before Clinton left office in 2001 for taking home classified information and keeping it on unsecured computers at his home during his time at the CIA and Pentagon. Deutch was about to enter into a plea agreement for a misdemeanor charge of mishandling government secrets when the pardon was granted.
I'm willing to give Sandy Berger the benefit of the doubt insofar as intentionality goes. I have no way of knowing whether he meant to remove the items or not.
However, assuming that he was simply careless, that seems to speak to competence. After all, Mr berger was the National Security Advisor; a basic understanding a handling secure, classified documents should be part of the job.
Bottom line: Mr. Berger seems to be a security risk either way. While I'm willing to listen to reasonable explanations, thus far none seem to forthcoming.
