Drudge is reporting that the Bush administration will propose across-the-board domestic spending cuts. I hope this is true. Let's get this deficit under control. My biggest complaint about Bush has been his lack of vetos of spending bills. Let's spend what we need on defending our country but cut down on other spending. Keep cutting taxes and cut some spending to keep this economy rolling.
UPDATE: MSNBC has the details here. I'm not hopeful of anything meaningful at all. It's just cuts in the growth of spending. Remember when the government "closed" during the Clinton/Gingrich budget battles? They said only essential people would still go to work. Well, if anyone is non-essential to the government then the "workfare" must end.

Is there a horrible threat or not? If there is, let's not fight it on the cheap.

Defending our country has no limits but providing an ever increasing safety net must have some limits. As of now the safety net gets bigger and bigger and Bush has not stopped in and actually has been part of that problem.
