Applying a Lesson Learned

International News Article | Reuters.com - Vietnam's Hero Still Grateful to Anti-War Americans

"I would like to thank them," the 93-year-old veteran said on Friday of those Americans who opposed the war.

Look, no matter how anyone feels about whether we should have or shouldn't have gone to Iraq, let's get behind our soldiers to achieve victory in Iraq. This is one battle in the war on terror. If we lose our will in Iraq then where do we fail next?

The 93 year vet should be thanked for his service, but teaching an old dog new tricks? I wouldn't expect that. Lets face it: we have never fought a war like this, it's a hard sell. Americans would like to see a big angry front of blood thirsty terrorists pointing AK-47's at us before going on the offensive, but that's not the kind of enemy we face. Yes there's room for debate, but we're there now...our soldiers need us behind them. We didn't ask for the war on terrorism, but we're going to fight it, so get on board or get the hell out of the way.

Be careful. That 93 year old vet was the General in NORTH Vietnam. He's not a man to be thanked.
