PETCO Park - First Impressions

Last night I gave my sons a choice; Knotts Berry Farm or Padres vs. Dodgers at PETCO Park. They picked the baseball game. We arrived early and the traffic was pretty darn good. We parked in an expensive parking lot ($15) but had only a short walk. Since we didn't have tickets we bought some at the ticket window and got some of the cheaper seats ($12 each) in the upper right-field bleachers. As we walk in there is a "park within a park" with kids playing wiffle ball. My sons run over to get in line to hit then I notice a Padre sitting behind home plate (see first three pictures). It turns out that it was All-Star Relief Pitcher Trevor Hoffman. What a great guy; making little kids' dreams come true. Both boys got to take some swings with some advice from Mr. Hoffman. They got their hats autographed and they probably have a new favorite player (sorry Shawn Green and Ichiro).

We go into the ballpark and needed to eat. Everythng was real expensive but we spent too much money for not much food. Our seats are pretty high up but the view is amazing (see picture below). They then have the first pitch thrown out and it's Wuv, drummer from the band P.O.D.. POD has an album that our family really likes from 2001. A few minutes later, Wuv sits down in the nosebleed seats about 10 rows in front of us. We decided not to bother him but it was pretty cool he was there. I also think the POD bassist was sitting there.

In summary, a great game for us Dodger fans (I wore a Dodger jersey and a Padre hat) as the Dodgers won 11-4. We did leave a bit early and made sure we walked all around the ballpark before we left. PETCO Park is an amazing place and we can't wait to go back. Just gotta save our pennies.
