Dean Under Fire

MSNBC - Dean under fire in final Iowa debate

Under fire in the last campaign debate before Iowans go to their caucuses Jan. 19, Howard Dean conceded grudgingly Sunday night that he never named a black or Latino to his cabinet during nearly 12 years as governor of Vermont.

I'm actually going to defend Howard here. From what I understand Vermont just doesn't have many minorities. Of course Dean could have found some token people to hire but that would really be wrong. There is nothing here but I guess when trying to pander to people it will be done.

You might say that by Howard Dean's own standards he was doing a poor job with race issues. That's what Sharpton was saying, and he scored a point against Dean, even if Sharpton himself deserved Mosely Braun's rebuke on the same issues, and even if she also did.

While I think the attack was a cheap shot, it still makes me grin. After watching the Dems use the race card to batter Republicans unfairly, it's sweet to watch their own favorite weapon wound their front runner. On my blog I compared it with Hezbollah bombers making an Oops and blowing themselves up in their basement. :P

Eh, after Dean's saying it's about educating white people on race, I don't feel too sorry for him.
